A Suggested New Year's Resolution for Patriotic Americans|
Happy New Year. I have three questions for you.
Do you know how to avoid a hangover on New Year's day - or any other day?
Do you know how to save a lot of money on medical care regardless of whether the new health care bill is enacted in 2010?
Do you know the number one reason for the extraordinarily high costs of the US health care system?
If it took you more than five seconds to correctly answer any one of these questions, this short commentary may be of use. If you knew the right answer immediately, this short commentary can be enjoyable, as it is sound evidence that you are a sensible person and likely to do well in the new year.
The correct, "right" answer to all three questions is basically the same: live in a manner consistent with the philosophy of REAL wellness.
If you do, you won't abuse alcohol - thus, no hangovers and less likelihood of all kinds of illness and diseases associated with alcoholism. If you live a REAL wellness lifestyle, you will suffer less illness and disease of all kinds, thus money will be saved - regardless of what happens with the dreadful medical system we have. In short, the number one reason for high health care costs is that people lack the motivation, knowledge, support and ability to think and act in REAL wellness ways. The vast majority of Americans are inept in terms of reason, exuberance and liberty - the R-E-A-L in REAL wellness.
So, here is a really cool idea for your consideration as a New Year's resolution for 2010 and thereafter: Resolve to learn about REAL wellness (there is an entire section about this idea at the SeekWellness Wellness Center) and resolve to make choices day after day consistent with this kind of mindset.
Why live this way? It will make you happier, as well as healthier and more energetic. Happiness is a creed more consequential than any pill, any reform by the Congress, any toy, any religion and any number of alcoholic drinks on New Year's eve.
America's greatest orator said this of happiness:
My creed is that happiness is the only good.
The place to be happy is here.
The time to be happy is now.
The way to be happy is to make others so.
That was Robert G. Ingersoll in 1894. I consider Ingersoll the father of REAL wellness.
Happy new year.
