Frequently Asked Questions/Troubleshooting

Q: How are lancets sterilized?

A: The EZ-Lance® lancets are sterilized through a process called Gamma Irradiation. If properly stored, the sterility of the lancets is maintained until the date of expiration.

Q: What is the difference between a tri-beveled lancet and a chisel point?

A: A tri-beveled lancet has three planes at the point of the lancet and is a standard point for fingertip testing. A chisel point lancet only has two planes and resembles the shape of a scalpel. This point is commonly used for neonatal heel sticks, but is also used by health care professionals who require a larger blood sample from the fingertips of their patients.

Q: What is the benefit of using a single-use disposable lancet in comparison with a reusable one like the auto-Lancet?

A: The auto-Lancet should not be used in a multiple-patient environment because of the contamination risk associated for both the user and patient. The EZ-Lance design solves the issue of accidental contamination because of its built-in safety features, namely the retraction of the used needle into the EZ-Lance housing and the inability to re-use the lancet.

Q: Does the EZ-Lance contain latex?

A: The EZ-Lance does not contain latex. For a list of materials please contact Palco Labs.

Q: Could the EZ-Lance be used for Alternative Site Testing (AST)?

A: The EZ-Lance is not indicated for AST testing.
